How to choose
Size by height
Under 140 cm is S, 140 to 165 cm is M, over 165 cm is L. The guard should cover from just above the ankle to below the knee.
Slip-in or ankle guard
Slip-in guards are light and easy. Ankle guards add a sock that protects the ankle in tackles: great for defenders.
Weight matters at the top
Carbon-fibre guards give strong protection at about 62 g each.
Wear them every match
Most clubs and referees require shin guards in matches. Wear them in training too.
Questions players and parents ask
What size shin guards does my child need?
Choose by height: under 140 cm is size S, 140 to 165 cm is size M and over 165 cm is size L.
Do kids have to wear shin guards for football?
Yes. Shin guards are part of the required equipment in organised football matches, and they protect against kicks in training too.
Should shin guards go under or over socks?
Under the football socks. The sock holds the guard in place. Some players add guard tape or a thin sleeve.
